"Between stimulus and response there is a space

In that space is our power to choose our response

In our response lies our growth and our freedom"

Mindfulness is everywhere: It’s used as a hashtag, on tea bags and in lifestyle magazines. But what is it really?

Mindfulness is about being in the here and now, not lost in thought about yesterday or tomorrow. It's about consciously experiencing the beautiful moments and also making room for the less beautiful moments, because they are also part of a fulfilled life. But: does being mindful mean I have to be relaxed all the time? And when I meditate, do I really have to try to not think? Or are these mindfulness myths? What is it really, how can I learn it, and why would I even want to?

In this Mindfulness Taster-Course you will have the opportunity to learn about mindfulness in theory and in practice. You will be presented with and will have the chance to try a selection of mindfulness-exercises as they are practiced in a traditional MBSR-course. You will be given a booklet and audio recordings, so you can try the exercises at home. There will be lots of room for your questions about the practice. You will find out if it is the kind of practice that can support your wellbeing. Finally, the course might enable you to move from doing-mode to being-mode for a few moments: In this way, you will understand mindfulness more fully.

No previous experience is necessary.

Important note: Studies on mindfulness-based interventions have shown that, among other things, they reduce stress, rumination, anxiety and depressive moods and that they contribute to a better quality of life.

Whom Are MBSR-Courses suited for?

For people of all ages who:

  • want to live (more) mindfully
  • want to learn to meditate
  • feel stressed
  • want to get to know themselves better

No experience is required to participate in an MBSR-course. Please note that an MBSR course can supplement but not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.

What does MBSR stand for?

MBSR stands for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. It is an 8-week program developed by the American molecular biologist Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University Hospital of Massachusetts. Since then, MBSR programs have become very popular and have been used in various settings (e.g. clinical, corporate). Study results show that regularly practicing mindfulness can lead to greater physical and mental well-being.

An MBSR-course aims at strengthening our inherent ability to being mindful. For this purpose, various mindfulness exercises are presented and practiced, such as

  • Sitting meditation
  • Walking meditation
  • Mindful body awareness (Body Scan)
  • Mindful body awareness in movement (mindful Hatha Yoga)
  • Mindfulness in everyday life (e.g. eating, talking, listening)

What Participants say

"If you struggle with stress, anxiety or any form of depression, I can highly recommend you to Amina’s MBSR course. Her calm voice and relaxed stature immediately brings calmness and relaxation to you, and I felt immediately more grounded during the sessions. The course is very well structured to cater to beginners as well as regular practitioners of mindfulness. After the sessions, I felt that the concept of mindfulness and meditation integrated into my lifestyle, and I didn't get the feeling that the course was just theoretical. I learned not only body scans and breathing but also concepts like mindful yoga, walking and eating. I learned to make short meaningful pauses during the day and connected more with myself. By the time the sessions were over, I had become more aware of myself and my thoughts and environment. Whenever I fell off the meditation routine, Amina provided excellent course material to help me practice the concepts again and get back on track to being more mindful. Being an ex-pat and unable to speak Deutsch very well was a big blocker for me, and I'm happy that Amina prepared everything and conducted the course in English for me. I will recommend this course to anyone and everyone who wants to start or continue their journey into the beautiful world of mindfulness and awareness." (Anubhav, 30y/o - completed 6 one-on-one MBSR sessions)

Amina's course has been very enjoyable. It provided a safe space for me to explore and be aware of my lived experience. Amina's expertise in MBSR and Clinical Psychology promised an informative, healing, and meaningful journey about mindfulness. I highly recommend this course." (Xuanhui, 27y/o - completed a compact MBSR-course)
